Understanding Domain Options for a Portal
VIDIZMO provides three domain options for configuring your portal URL: Subdomain, Directory, and Custom Domain. The domain option you select determines how users access your portal for navigation and media playback.
For step-by-step configuration instructions, see How to Change Portal URL.
NOTE: If you have multiple portals in your account, each portal can be configured with a different domain option.
Domain Options Overview
| Option | URL Format | Example |
|---|---|---|
| Subdomain | yourname.vidizmo.com | http://marketing.vidizmo.com |
| Directory | vidizmo.com/yourname | http://vidizmo.com/marketing |
| Custom Domain | yourdomain.com | http://media.yourcompany.com |
Subdomain
A subdomain is a prefix added to a domain name that creates a separate section of a website. This option allows you to select a subdomain under VIDIZMO's primary domains: vidizmo.com or enterprisetube.com.
URL format: http://yourorganization.vidizmo.com
Use a friendly name such as your organization or department name as the subdomain. VIDIZMO automatically validates subdomain availability as you type, displaying a checkmark for available names or an error message if the name is already in use.
Directory
A directory creates a folder structure under VIDIZMO's primary domain. This option places your portal as a subdirectory of vidizmo.com or enterprisetube.com.
URL format: http://vidizmo.com/yourorganization
This option is useful for large organizations that want to maintain a consistent primary domain while creating multiple department-specific portals.
Custom Domain
A custom domain allows you to use your own domain name instead of VIDIZMO's domains. You can use either your primary domain or a subdomain that you own.
URL format: http://media.yourdomain.com or http://www.yourdomain.com
This option is ideal when you want to maintain your organization's brand identity in the portal URL.
NOTE: When using a custom domain, you must provide your own SSL certificate.
For configuration instructions, see How to Set Custom Domain for a Portal.
HTTPS Only
HTTPS (Hyper Text Transfer Protocol Secure) encrypts data transmitted between the browser and VIDIZMO, providing secure communication. When enabled, all portal traffic uses HTTPS.
SaaS deployments: HTTPS is supported out of the box for subdomain and directory options. Enable the Always Use HTTPS checkbox in domain settings.
On-premise deployments: You must configure your own SSL certificate for your domain or subdomain.
For configuration instructions, see How to Configure your Portal to Use HTTPS only.
